Unity's Eastern Region Retreat
Third annual meeting held August 3-6th, 2006
at Pocono Manor, PA
|
This summer, nine members of Unity Church of the Light participated in a four day spiritual experience at a classic hotel located in the hills of eastern Pennsylvania. Over one hundred people from more than a dozen Unity churches in the states north of Virginia & east of Ohio joined together for this event, hosted by the Unity Church of Albany. |

The Hotel is a century old facility that forms the nucleus of the town of Pocono Manor. There is even a post office located in the hotel's basement. The mountain setting, with its well manicured golf course and surrounding elegant properties suggest a bygone age of privilege and plenty. |

Each morning and evening workshop was preceded by several musical activities, conducted by Scott Eggert. A combination of chanting, dancing, or just listening to his talent put everyone in the frame of mind for the activities to follow. Upon introduction by Rev. Jim Fuller, the retreat's host from Unity at Albany, the keynote presenter, Rev. Richard Rogers conducted the "Living Love" seminar, introducing us to the seven principles used to express and experience greater spiritual love.

On Saturday night, a volunteer talent show entertained the congregants with members from the various churches contributing performers. Unity Church of the Light played a active role, with the appearance of the now famous Father Stephano Carduzzi, in the role of Master of ceremonies. Michelle Levangie sang some of her original songs, and Gladyce Ames performed a comic routine on the dubious merits of aging. |

On Sunday, the retreat concluded with a morning service. We departed with full hearts & minds, new friends, and happy experiences.
Next year's retreat will be held in early August & once again at the Pocono Manor.
